Pounding Pumpkins Alphabet Activity
This pounding pumpkins alphabet activity is so much fun for kids! It’s also a great way to develop gross motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
My son couldn’t believe I was telling him to hammer golf tees into a pumpkin. I definitely won lots of cool points for this! I could have just let him pound the tees into the pumpkin, but I figured I may as well add some alphabet learning to the mix too. He also got plenty of time to add golf tees wherever he wanted too.

Learning Letters with a Pounding Pumpkins Alphabet Activity
I showed Evan how to hold the tee with one hand and hammer the it with the other hand. There was quite a bit of a learning curve to it, but after a bit of trial and error he figured it out.
I would just call out a letter name or a letter sound and he would find the letter on the pumpkin. Then he would hammer the tee into it.

Simple as that. There really isn’t much to it, but it sure is fun!
