Melted snowman shape collage craft art activity for preschoolers. A fun winter craft for kids to learn shapes and develop fine motor skills.

I wanted to create a fun winter craft that both of my kids would enjoy making. Plus, I wanted it to be quick and easy to set up and simple for the kids to do. This one was perfect.

I was able to prep everything quickly and both of my kids were able to participate at their own level. It was simple enough for them to understand and didn’t frustrate them.

I love that each one is unique and different and kids are able to express their creativity any way they like when making it.

While making the melted snowman, your kids will learn about and explore shapes. In addition, they will get lots of fine motor practice while picking up the pieces and gluing the shapes to the paper.

Because my kids are so young and my son does not enjoying cutting with scissors, I cut everything myself.

  1. Cut out squares from the white construction paper.
  2. Cut out small circles from the black construction paper. Then cut out larger black circles for the eyes.
  3. Cut out a triangle from the orange construction paper.

Melted Snowman Process Art

This is pretty much a free for all and there is no right or wrong way to make this snowman craft. I did explain that it was going to look like a melted snowman when completed.

Both of my kids got right to work gluing the white squares all over the blue construction paper. Then they added the black circles and the orange triangle to the paper as well.

My son decided to make a face on the white construction paper squares. My toddler just glued pieces all over the paper with no rhyme or reason.

This snowman art activity is the perfect length of time for young kids. Some may spend 20+ minutes gluing shapes to the paper and some may only want to spend 5 minutes on it. That’s fine. Each child can do as much or as little as they want.

I love that they both could participate and make their own version of this melted snowman craft!
