Literacy Learning Station – Letters D, E, F

This week we are continuing our literacy learning station with the letters D, E and F. We used lots of great hands-on literacy printables from our favorite kid bloggers!

Evan had a lot of fun with all of these activities this week. I am finding new ways to use the printables and add our own games and hands-on activities as well.

Here is a list of the literacy printables we used this week:

I made this fun Letter Sounds Alphabet Game for Evan and I to play and we had a great time using it during our literacy learning station time this week. It was super effective at helping him commit the letter sounds to memory!

This week we used these ABC Playdough Mats from Homeschool Creations. Evan used them with play dough like he did last week, but we also used other materials as well. I introduced Wikki Stix to him for the first time and he used them to trace the letters. I did have to help him form the letters because he is still learning how to use them. He also used the Math Link Cubes to form the letters as well.

Evan really liked coloring these ABC Coloring Pages from 3 Dinosaurs. He is still very fond of his scented pip squeak markers, but these Crayon Rocks are a new favorite. I bought them because we are trying to encourage him to use a better pencil grasp. He refused to use broken crayons like some people suggest, but he absolutely loves to use these “rocks” to color.

We continued to use these Dot Letter pages from Confessions of a Homeschooler. Evan prefers to use the dot stickers on them, so that is what he did.

I printed out these consonant letter cards and vowel letter cards from Homeschool Creations. There are 3 pictures to go with each letter sound. Evan then used our small pocket chart to sort the pictures by beginning sound. It was great hands-on practice at identifying beginning sounds in words!

The additional literacy manipulatives I included in our learning station this week are:

Alphabet puzzle

Alphabet magnets

Lowercase letter stamps and stamp pad

We made a lot of progress this week and I am very happy with how the literacy learning station is working out for us!
