Sticky Wall Gingerbread Man Activity

This gingerbread man activity is a fun way for kids to create large-scale art while developing fine motor skills. The best part is that they can do it over and over again!

A gingerbread man activity that kids LOVE! Plus, it's a fun Christmas art and craft activity for preschoolers!

We are still enjoying our super popular gingerbread man art activity, but I wanted to create another activity that the kids could do on an ever larger scale. If you need to avoid glue mess, then this is the perfect alternative. It would be a great activity for a Christmas party too.

My kids love that they can decorate the gingerbread men over and over again too. It’s always up on the wall, so they can go over and play with it whenever they want.

Setting Up the Sticky Wall

Supplies Needed:

  1. Draw a large gingerbread man outline on a sheet of brown construction paper. Place a couple of sheets of brown construction paper below it and cut the gingerbread man out – cutting through all of the sheets of brown paper at once.
  2. Tape the gingerbread men to the wall.
  3. Cut off a large piece of clear contact paper that is big enough to cover all of the gingerbread men you have taped to the wall.
  4. Carefully, peel the backing off of the contact paper and tape it to the wall with the sticky side facing out. Be careful with the contact paper or it could stick to itself. This is a much easier task if you get someone to help you.
  5. Put the remaining supplies on a divided tray.

Gingerbread Man Activity for Kids

My kids were crazy excited to get to work decorating their gingerbread man. They both had very different styles when it came to decorating them.

My 5-year-old son was very meticulous about placing the supplies and gave his gingerbread man a sword and shield. 🙂

My three-year old placed the supplies all over the gingerbread man with no rhyme or reason at all. She just loved sticking stuff onto him.

They both got lots of fine motor practice while placing all of the small buttons and gems on the wall. Plus, they got to experiment with creating collages out of a variety of materials.

The kids asked if they could keep the gingerbread men up on the wall as decorations and I was more than happy to oblige them. They look so cute on our wall!
