Search for Letters in the Pool
Searching for letters in the pool is a fun and exciting way for toddlers and preschoolers to learn the alphabet while playing!
Evan is all about the pool this summer, so I figured I would combine his love for the pool with some learning activities. He has a blast and is learning at the same time. Win-win!
Materials Needed:
- Foam letters
- Kiddie pool
Setting Up the Alphabet Activity
On this day, I decided to use the foam letters we use in the bathtub and a plastic pool. For now, I only used letters A-E because he is just beginning to identify letters and I don’t want him to get overwhelmed or frustrated. I plan to add more letters little by little.
I just threw the letters in the water and then told him he was going on an underwater treasure hunt.
Searching for Letters in a Pool
I began calling out letter names and Evan would search for the letter I called. He loved splashing around and trying to find the letter.
If your child is older, you could also ask them to tell you the letter sound. You could even call out a letter sound and let them search for the letter that makes that sound.
This was a hit! It was so simple and easy. Plus, I love it when children get to move and learn. 🙂 Give it a try and let me know if it’s a hit with your kids too.
