This frog hop sight word game is a super fun and active way to learn sight words! It’s a great way to work on jumping and other gross motor skills as well.
My son had an awesome time playing this game! He really got into it and learned a lot at the same time. It’s also a fantastic exercise. Both of my kids were hopping and jumping the entire time.
Setting Up the Sight Word Game
Supplies Needed:

- Sidewalk Chalk – green and a darker color
That’s all you need! How awesome is that?!
- Draw lily pads with green sidewalk chalk all over the driveway or play surface you are using.
- Use the darker sidewalk chalk to write sight words on the lily pads.

Frog Hop Sight Word Game
This game is very easy to play. All you need to do is call out a word and your child will jump on the corresponding lily pad. This continues for as long as you and your child would like to play.
My son had an absolute blast jumping from one lily pad to the next. He really liked trying to see how high he could jump each time. What’s funny is that we realized I was catching him mid-air while taking pics, so he would do a big jump and then look at my camera screen to see how high it was. He got a real kick out of that.
Another fun thing to do while playing this game, is to call out the sight words faster and faster. My son loved jumping quickly from word to word.

My toddler even got in on the activity. She simply enjoyed hopping on the lily pads. You could make this activity suitable for younger children by writing letters, shapes, or numbers on the lily pads instead of sight words.
