First off, I still try to wipe stains as they occur with a baby wipe or a wet napkin. When the kids stain something while were out, there is nothing I can do but wipe it and wait until we get home. At home, sometimes it’s not convenient to go upstairs to the laundry room and treat a stain right away. The good news is that, this stain removal method has worked on tough set in stains time and time again!

I guess my husband really wanted me to prove this to you. I brought two stained shirts downstairs to photograph, treated them and then asked my husband to bring them upstairs and put them on top of the dryer. That is where I usually leave them so I don’t forget about them.

Well, he thought I asked him to put them in the dryer. So the shirts, with the stain treatment on them, went into the dryer. As you can imagine, the stains were set in really well. And there were blue stains from the little blue beads in the Oxy Clean.

Well, I thought, this was going to be a good test of whether this method will work on even the worst stains. And much to my delight, it did! The stains are completely gone!!

The peach colored shirt was stained with strawberry juice and the white shirt was stained with ketchup. Both were put through the dryer without being washed first and both of the stains were very set in.

The Best Stain Removal Method

*Disclaimer: Make sure you test the mixture of Shout and Oxy clean on a hidden area of the clothes to test color-fastness. To be honest, I don’t do this very often, but I am a risk taker when it comes to stained laundry.

  1. Spray the stain and thoroughly saturate it with Shout. No need to scrub the stain.
  2. Scoop out the Oxy Clean and pour it in a small mound over the stains.
  3. Spray Shout on top of the mound of Oxy Clean until it is totally wet and paste-like in appearance.
  4. Leave the Shout and Oxy Clean combo on the stain for a few hours or up to 24 hours, depending on how set in the stain is.
  5. Wash the clothing item as usual. Check to see if the stain came out before drying!
  6. If the stain did not come out, repeat the steps above again and let the stain remover stay on longer before washing.

The white shirt stained with ketchup and put through the dryer had to go through this process twice before all traces of the stain were gone. The peach shirt only had to be treated once.

Now, I am not saying this will get out every single stain ever, but I don’t think there is a stain I haven’t been able to get out yet. The best part is that there is no scrubbing involved!
