Cheesy Pesto Pinwheels
Our family loves these delicious Cheesy Pesto Pinwheels! Take them to a party as an appetizer or serve them up for dinner or snack. They are sure to be a hit!
My family loves all things cheesy. So I cheese stuffed bread is basically a guaranteed win. The addition of pesto just takes this recipe up another notch. The flavors are AMAZING!
Better yet, these cheesy pesto pinwheels are super easy to make. You can have them done and in the oven in like 5 minutes!
So if you are a busy mom like me, you will love this recipe even more. If you need to quickly whip something up to take to a family get together or party, this is perfect for you. If you need something quick and easy for dinner, this will be a sanity saver.
My kids actually really like pesto – even my super picky eater. But if your kids refuse to let anything green enter their mouths, then just put pesto on one portion of the crust and let the kids just have cheesy rolls. Win-win.
Making the Cheesy Pesto Pinwheels
The first thing you do is open the can of pizza crust dough and spread it out so that it looks like a large rectangle. Then spoon some pesto on it and spread it around so that it covers all of the dough.
Then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top. I also like to add shredded parmesan cheese for even more flavor. You could also use an Italian cheese mix. I do that often as well.
Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella cheese on top, making sure to cover it evenly. Carefully roll the entire dough up so that you have a “tube” shape.
With a sharp knife, carefully cut your roll at 1/2 -1 inch intervals. I have found the best way to keep the original shape is to use a “sawing” motion, instead of cutting it by pressing down.
Arrange your rolls in a skillet or pan, making sure there is a good half-inch space between each roll.
Sprinkle on parmesan cheese or extra mozzarella if desired.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or until pizza crusts look golden brown.
All baked to delicious cheesy perfection. Serve the cheesy pesto pinwheels as is or dip in marinara sauce. Both ways are equally delicious!
Look at that cheesy goodness. Are you drooling yet?! I know I am! Thankfully, I have all of the ingredients on hand. I know what I will be making again tonight!
